Mentor vs. Mentee 1: The Transmission of Visionary Leadership at the Presidency of UNAH Through an Academic Gown

Dr. Edmond, an Experienced Visionary Leader

Dr. Edmond has served as President of the Université Adventiste d’Haïti since 2021. A pastor, lawyer, and Ph.D. in Religion, with specializations in research, personal finance, archaeology, education, and counseling in hospital and correctional settings, he dedicates his expertise to the methodological and pedagogical guidance of students at all levels.

The current President of UNAH has built a distinguished pastoral, professional, and academic career marked by visionary leadership. After serving as a hospital chaplain in North America, Dr. Edmond became President of the Mission des Adventistes du Septième Jour du Nord d’Haïti. At UNAH, in addition to teaching, he has served as Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Commercial Sciences, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Dean of the Graduate School.

His vision of preparing future generations is reflected, among other initiatives, in the university’s student mentoring program, which is now in its third edition.

All of his commitment to student development, along with his ability to provide rigorous, methodical, and higher-education-focused guidance, is symbolically passed on to the mentored president through the academic gown with which he vested him during the installation ceremony held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Dhon Peter Lovensky Louis Jean, a Proactive Young Leader

A lawyer, theologian, and passionate journalist, the mentored president, Dhon Peter Lovensky Louis Jean, stands out for his energetic and proactive leadership.

He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Human Resources at UNAH, as well as a diploma in Media Management from Universidad de Montemorelos in Mexico. In addition, he serves as Production Director of Hope Média Haïti.

Articulate and talented like his mentor, Dhon Peter Louis Jean delivers lectures and training sessions in the field of communications. As mentored president, his vision aligns with that of his mentor: to lead the way toward a more proactive UNAH that is responsive to contemporary academic and technological realities.

The academic gown worn for more than five years by the visionary Sénèque Edmond carries significant symbolic weight. Yet the mentored president embraces it with the bold and fearless spirit that defines him. In 2026, Dhon Peter Lovensky Louis Jean seeks to become a standard-bearer of this enduring legacy of service at UNAH, an institution that has provided holistic and Christ-centered education since 1921.
